Frequently asked questions

Doesn't Telegram transcribe voice messages on its own?

Telegram has a transcription button on voice messages, but it is a Telegram Premium feature; without a subscription it allows only a few transcriptions per week. The text stays inside the chat and cannot be downloaded. With the tool on this page you transcribe as many messages as you need within your plan limit, from any account, and take the text away as .txt.

How do I save Telegram audio on Android?

Open the chat, long-press the voice message, and in the menu choose Save to Downloads (older versions: Save to Music). The file lands in your phone's Downloads folder, usually with the .ogg extension. If the option is missing, use Share and save it in your file manager. Then just upload the file on this page.

How do I save Telegram audio on iPhone?

Long-press the voice message, choose Share, then Save to Files. Pick the folder (Downloads, for example) and confirm. When uploading here, tap the upload area and find the file in the Files app.

How do I save the audio in Telegram Desktop or Telegram Web?

In Telegram Desktop, right-click the voice message and choose Save audio as; the file comes out as .ogg. In Telegram Web, click the three dots on the message and then Download; the file may come out with the .oga extension. Both formats work here without conversion.

Does the .oga format work? Is it the same as .ogg?

Yes. .oga and .ogg are the same container (Ogg) with Opus audio, which is what Telegram uses for voice messages. Our tool accepts both directly, plus MP3, M4A, WAV, and AAC, in case someone sent the audio as a file instead of a voice message.

What about Telegram's round video messages?

Video messages (the circles) are saved as MP4. Save them the same way and upload them on the transcribe video page: we extract the audio and transcribe it. For WhatsApp audio, the page is transcribe WhatsApp audio; for meeting recordings, transcribe meetings (in Portuguese).

Is there a duration limit? How much does it cost?

Free: 2 transcriptions per account, up to 10 minutes each, signing in with just your email. If the audio is longer than 10 minutes, we transcribe the first 10 and you decide whether you want the rest. Does it work in other languages? Is my audio stored?

It works in English, Portuguese, and Spanish, among others; leave it on "Detect automatically" or choose the language. The audio is sent encrypted, transcribed by an infrastructure provider contracted by Rollin Host only to produce the text, and deleted right after processing, in any case within one day. We never sell or share the content with anyone.

Need volume or a private API?
