    How we handle your files

    What we collect from the upload

    Only the file you send, for as long as needed to process and return it. No additional data from the file is extracted, indexed, or sent to any third party.

    Where we process

    Rollin Host's own infrastructure, in international Tier III datacenters (Europe and US). The upload goes through temporary storage (Vercel Blob) with automatic deletion right after processing. We do not use third-party conversion APIs (smallpdf, Adobe, etc.). Processing complies with the LGPD, with safeguards for international data transfer (Art. 33).

    How long we store it

    Only as long as needed to process. The file sits in temporary storage during upload and in server RAM during processing (a few seconds), with automatic deletion right after you download the result. It never goes to backup, and we never log the content.

    What gets logged

    Operational logs without content: call timestamp, IP hash (anonymized), operation name (e.g., "merge"), file size, HTTP response code. Retention: 30 days, for debugging and security. None of your personal metadata goes into these logs.

    Cookies and tracking

    No third-party cookies in this tool. The main site uses first-party cookies for the theme (dark/light) and anonymous Google Analytics only if you consent in the CMP banner. Tool pages work even without accepting any cookies.

    Legal basis (LGPD)

    Processing happens under the basis of performance of a service requested by the data subject (Art. 7, V, of the LGPD). Since you submit the file voluntarily for processing, this is the most direct basis possible — no additional consent needed.

    Your rights

    Frequently asked questions

    What is the difference between the open password and the owner password?
    The open password is what a person types to view the PDF. The owner password controls the restrictions (printing, copying, editing): whoever has it can lift the locks. If you tick a restriction and leave the owner password blank, we use the open password for that.
    Is the protection strong?
    The PDF comes out with the format's native 128-bit encryption, which opens in any reader (Adobe, Chrome, phone). Without the password the content is unreadable. Use a long password: what weakens the protection is a short or obvious password, not the technology.
    Can I block only printing or only copying?
    Yes. Each restriction is a separate checkbox: printing, text copying and editing. Combine them as you like or tick none, keeping just the open password.
    I forgot the password, can you recover it?
    No. We keep neither the file nor the password. If you still know the password and want to lift the protection, use the remove PDF password tool.
    Does the file stay on your server?
    The PDF is processed on our server and deleted automatically within 1 day. Nobody on the team opens the file and the password is not logged anywhere.
    Is there a usage limit?
    Free: 3 operations per day with any PDF tool, files up to 25 MB, just your email. The Pro plan unlocks unlimited use and files up to 100 MB.
    Does the PDF layout change?
    No. Pages, fonts, images and links stay exactly as they were. The protection only wraps the file; the content is not reprocessed.
    Does it work on mobile?
