Questions about converting images
Which image formats does the tool accept?
Input: JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF (first frame only), BMP and AVIF, as long as your browser can open the format. Output: JPG, PNG or WEBP, your choice.
Does it convert HEIC, the iPhone photo format?
No. Browsers cannot open HEIC/HEIF, so the tool warns you and skips the file. On iPhone, go to Settings, Camera, Formats and choose Most Compatible to shoot in JPG, or share the photo as JPG before converting.
How many images can I convert at once?
Up to 20 images per batch, at most 25 MB each. They are processed one after another with a progress bar, and you download each result or all of them in a .zip.
What happens to transparency when converting to JPG?
JPG has no transparency channel. Transparent areas of a PNG or WEBP are filled with the background color chosen in the tool, white by default. If you need to keep transparency, convert to PNG or WEBP.
Which quality should I use for JPG and WEBP?
80 to 90 is the sweet spot: the difference from 100 is invisible to the eye and the file gets much smaller. Below 70, blocks start showing up in flat areas and around text edges. PNG does not use this setting because it is a lossless format.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The whole conversion runs in your browser: the files never leave your computer or phone, are not stored in any database and are seen by no one. Close the tab and it is gone.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Once the page has loaded, the tool does not depend on a connection: you can switch off Wi-Fi and keep converting.
What is the difference between converting, compressing and resizing?
Converting changes the format (PNG becomes JPG, for example) and keeps the dimensions. Compressing keeps format and dimensions and reduces the weight by adjusting quality. Resizing changes the width and height in pixels. For a smaller file, start by resizing if the image is bigger than you need, then compress.
