Frequently asked questions
Do I need to install anything on the destination side?
No. The repository works over the storage’s standard SFTP/SSH mode — you only need Borg on the source machine.
Borg or Restic — which one?
Both are excellent and our storage serves both. Borg usually compresses better; Restic is simpler to operate across systems. If you already use one, there is no reason to switch.
What about ransomware protection?
Besides Borg’s encryption and versions, the storage keeps automatic read-only snapshots on our side, immune to anyone with access to the source server.
How much does the storage cost?
